Has anyone ordered from Taka Karia before?
Are they good/reliable? Do they deliver in 4-5 working days as they say on their Web site (via EMS)?
What if they send the wrong item, do they have a return policy? I couldn't find any info on their website about returns.

Yes I use them quite a bit. The 4-5 days is AFTER they get the part in. Delivery to your door is typically 2 1/2-3 weeks from time of confirming order (i.e paying).

If you order the wrong item, then they will not take it back. If you order correctly and they send you the wrong thing, they say they will take it back and pay all return shipping charges. This has not happened to me so far though.

I've become a little less impressed with the enquiries side of things in recent months. Previously I was getting answers on shipping estimates and so on in 24 hrs but they are taking much longer now. Orders are still processed promptly however. I guess its just the fact they get thousands of enquiries from people who have no intention of ordering from them..

Cheers Papa,
Can you tell before/at the time of ordering whether the item is in stock?
Also, how do you go about paying the VAT? Do you get a VAT payment slip or something when its delivered (which is presumably attached to the item when it goes thru customs)?

My first order went fine, my second order was cancelled because I queried theyre shipping costs. It was a CAT back exhaust weighing 8.2 kg's they sent me an email informing me that the total weight of the package would be 15.2 kg's  I said that I can understand a package needs to be well protected but 7kg's worth of packing? They then got very jumpy and emediatly cancelled my order, i then asked why my order had been cancelled, and they told me that I could no longer purchase the exhaust from them because I would cause trouble when it had been sent. In other words I took this to mean that when I recieved my package that had been charged at a weight of 15.2kg's and it only weighed 11kg's I would kick Up A fuss (Feckin Dam Rite) :(

I've heard of this before. TeamCapsule I believe ordered a front pipe and they tried to make out it was an 8 kg package or something. Someone weighed one they happened to have and it was much less. When TC questioned the weight they told him the same thing...

Hope you don't mind me re-telling the story TC ;)

PS they charge vat+duty on the invoice value which they legally have to declare before sending a package abroad.

Hmm, these stories are making me feel a bit reluctant to order from them now.
I've caculated that the item I want from them costs £105. Assuming they'll add VAT on the delivery cost too and assuming the package will be no more than 1 Kilo (induction kit), thats 105.23 + 17.11 delivery + VAT 21.40 = £143.51 (not sure about duty fees). Whereas to buy here in the UK, it costs 155+VAT = 182.12. I would save myself about £40 or so, but thats if they charge me for 1 kg delivery via EMS. If they charge me 2KG, its an extra tenner or so, so still saving £30 odd.
They'd have to charge me for 4kg delivery for it to be the same price as here in the UK!

I ordered an Apex'i Super Intake from them and I think it was no more than 2 kg's.
