SIte for car details from reg number?

Urgent help required chaps, :confused:

My dad's car was run into, while he was parked, by 4 f*ckwits in a f*cking sierra, who then hurtled off - dad's mate got what he thinks is the reg number, and dad is going to the cops tomorrow.

I seem to remember a site that tells you the car details (but not the owners unfortunately) if you put in the registration number - would be nice to check got the right car so adds weight to the complaint to the cops.

Any links very gratefully received. Any links that tell who the owners are from the reg plate even more gratefully received! :mad:

No idea Re: getting owner details from reg. plate. But try a few insurance company websites, by putting in the reg. no for the quote. It'll tell you what the car make and model is..

I thought you could apply to DVLA for that? The polis should find out the reg number as it was a hit and run accident and they should prosecute. Chances are though that the car will not have a current keeper listed. 4 up in a Sierra and driving like tw*ts don't sound like they're gonna send back their V5 to let the old bill know where they live or is that me being cynical? Tried the Elephant one - confirms it was a Sierra GLXi - Dad's mate said the car was a sierra and had a spoiler and I guess a GLXi would have one, so looks like the reg number was right. All adds weight to the complaint (especially if Dad doesn't tell the cops about Elephant :) )

Probably right about the car not being registered - and even if it is they will just say they don't know who was driving I guess.

Apparently the insurance company are going to chase it up as well - that news really filled me with confidence :rolleyes:

Be interesting to see how the cops react - they didn't give a crap when it was reported within 2 minutes of it happening - perhaps should have said the lads were speeding, then hit the car, they might have been interested then :mad:

It will probably turn out that the insurance company is more interested in solving the crime than the Police...

I have heard that you can phone the DVLA, tell them that the vehicle is blocking a commercial address and ask them for details - generally they will do it :)

Same thing happened to me, six months later no progress. Cops are not interested at all, you just need to get a crime number from them. If the car is not registered or insured they're still not interested, so I don't know why we bother with this ourselves!

If Plod had a blitz on checking people's Insurance details and KEPT DOING IT then the problem with uninsured pondlife getting away with it would reduce bigtime.

But that's probably not a vote winner so Tony and his hangers-on wouldn't be interested.......:rolleyes:

Had a guy do a hit and run on my parked Golf, he stacked into it so hard that he popped both his drive shafts, and the only thing that kept him going (not very far) was his momentum. He then got out of his van and started leggin it:eek: Luckily 1 of my mates caught him, rugby tackled him and held him. the guy was cryin so he did'nt get the beatin he should have. Any way the police turn up, and have a go at my m8, for restraining this guy, so he let's go, and the guy does a runner again:rolleyes: . The same freind had to chase him down and tackle him again, and when we dragged him back to the scene, the police were still sittin in their cars:mad: Oh yeah 4got 2 mention, the guy was well pissed.

Anyway 3 years down the line, and for the first 2 I made a monthly phone call to find out whats going on with the prosecution. I still havent heard a thing :( All I wanted was the tw@ to be taken off the road, but I guess he completly got away with it :mad:

Why can't the ploice be like in the good old days when if they caught someone the kicked the livin sh*t outta them.. people used to scared of the police but now they laugh at them cos if a pig lays a finger on someone they get b*llocked for it.. should be like in America.. guns guns guns... hehe :rolleyes: :D
