hello all..

just been doing some more research on S15's...

a few websites have said that the S15 uses the majority of suspension components (inc diff) and some braking components from the R34 skyline....

is there any truth in this!?!? which bits are from the R34 ??

Also, anybody know of any professional reviews other than the AutoSpeed one?? links??

Thanks all

Piers.

The S15 Brembo brakes are the same as on the R34 GTR, dont know anything about the suspension though, would not have thought its the same but could be wrong (usually am) :D

"S15 Brembo brakes are the same as on the R34 GTR"

are the 'brembo brakes' an option of some sort, are all the brakes on S15's the same?? callipers have nissan stamped on them if I remember correctly, but I guess that doesn't mean much..

thanks

deffo wrong on the brakes they are the same as S14 ones...

diff could be the same, but it is difficult to know, the same aftermarket kits fit S14,S15 and GTR so I dunno if the GTR guts are the same as std.

It is good though puts power down out of roundabouts in the dry like a gtr.

I think it is true redarding the wishbone set up etc.. but the front end must be different as the gtr is quite complicated due to the 4wd set up.

the diff (helical? I think it's called - it's not a run-of-the-mill viscous job) and gearbox (6 speed) are different. the engine is tuned to produce more power and it has bigger injectors. (this is comparing the s15 to the s14)

afaik skyline suspension is completely different to sx suspension.

according to the brocure they share a lot of compoents although the set up is different at the front.
all I can think is that the rear subframe is similar/the same.

Like I said mate the aftermarket ones are all the same part number but this doesn't mean the guts are the same as std. it is a damn site better than the other SX ones though.

the S15 has bigger injectors than an R34, but then it has fewer cylinders to fill with fuel.

I believe the power/weight ratio for the SPec R S15 and the stock R34 are pretty similar and as there is 200kg difference between the 2 cars then it is easy to keep up with the higher power R34's mods wise... well up to about 600 bhp on the liner.

thanks for all that guys... much appreciated.

it's good to know that the Diff is a good one, as there are a worryingly large number of rwd cars that have open diffs, which just seems crazy to me...

thanks again..
