Ok, is it true that there is an average speed monitor on the A43 (I think) near Northhampton? And if so, where is it exactly… cos I travelled on the A43 from Oxford to the Northampton M1 junction .. is it on this part of the road??..

I drove there in a hire car last week, and could have exceeded the limit in places, if so, how long does it take for this to come through? (given it is a hire car as well).

I didn’t even think average speed monitors were legal yet! s**t

Not sure if they actually there cos I don't know the area, but I do know that average speed cameras do exist. They're on large blue victorian posts and are called SPECS cameras. Theyve also put some on the M6 near Jtn 19 North and South for roadworks (A556 Manchester turnoff).

yeh, the moral to that story is make sure you stick near the speed limit when you don't know the area... don't normally drive down south, I'm a yorkshire lad... going to Kent on Monday tho.. will be extra careful I think.

I think the M62 roadworks between Manchester & Liverpool (around Warrington area?) has/had averaging cameras.

Notification usually comes within 2 weeks i think,

That is a ba88tard... I thought the whole idea of speed cameras was to slow you down... you should be warned a bit more tho.

I don't know whether or not it's legal mate, but I do know that that must notify you of there intention to prosecute you with 14 days. So after the 14 day mark you can exhale loudly!!!

What happens if it is a hire car then? does the 14day rule still apply?
