I've just endured a 2 hour wait for a recovery vehicle and 30 minutes of the recovery guy with his head under the bonnet followed by a 30 minute 5 mile limp home (sorry if you were stuck behind) my '91 S13 has died
I was approaching a roundabout and lost 90% power I managed to limp off the roundabout before grinding to a hault, the engine idled at 500 rpm but when I tried hitting the gas the engine would peak at 1000rpm then drop back to 500 even with the pedal floored, the mechanic suggested an airbox problem as when he bypassed the airflow system by removing the pipe leading in to the silver box marked ECCS (sorry not a technical person) I managed to drive the car home all be it slowly, can anybody tell me what has happened and what I'm looking at to nurse my baby back to full health parts and cost wise, also she failed her MOT this morning 7% CO2 is this linked?
