BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein says Iraq has suspended its oil exports for one month in protest at Israel's invasion of Palestinian areas on the West Bank.


"The Revolutionary Command Council, the Iraqi leadership of the Baath party and the Iraqi cabinet during a meeting on April 8 declared the complete stoppage of oil exports starting from this afternoon April 8 through the pipeline to the Turkish port on the Mediterranean and our ports in Basrah for a period of 30 days," the Iraqi President said in a live speech broadcast by Iraqi television and radio on Monday.


Saddam said that after 30 days, "we will further decide or until the Zionist entity's (Israel) armed forces have unconditionally withdrawn from the Palestinian territories."


Oil Minister Amir Muhammed Rasheed said the suspension of Iraq's exports of about two million barrels per day, about four percent of international oil trade, from Gulf and Turkish ports was implemented at 1000 GMT (11 a.m. British time) on Monday.

yah mate i guarantee you you chose the best time! to be honest we have had like tropical rainstorms here for last 2 weeks most of the time:) which is nice here cos it aint england and i know its gonna stop sometime....and hey...its sunny as owt now...and lookin good, just in time for me football match 2nite, where are you goin in Spain? sh1t,Starionman,the worst part about it is Tony Blair has agreed to follow an attack on Iraq if Bush does,thus pulling us into (directly) the war.PLUS Saddam wouldn't think twice about flying a few nukes over to london or its regions,then we have BIG sh1t on our hands:(:(:(:mad: :mad: :mad: Why doesn't someone (SAS) assasinate him?(is that spelt correctly?)If we pi55 off Saddam tho',we'll have to deal with the whole Arab community.

Phew,sorry about that guys,not too deep i hope:D He cant get nukes over here :D, if he could he would have already done it. Hence why he always threatens to do Isreal instead and he couldn't even "scud" them :D

Well, I ain't gonna go to war to save this country, sorry.
Plus nukes are out - where would be the point. THere's no advantage in thema anymore. Roasted marshmallows anyone?
