View Full Version : Bad wrap for GTO's
How come GTO's get such a bad wrap?
A bloke near me has one and I think it looks wicked, I've heard they are boring to drive. Has anyone here driven or been in one to back this up?

I quite like the look of them as well, theres a black one in hemel that realy looks the biss. I've also heard stories of them being a bit lathargic in the acceleration dept, dont know how true it is though.
I've spoken to a friend who used to valet jap import cars and take them for a spin. He used to have to sit it on test drives with potential owners and wasn't overkeen on the 3000. Admittedly, one customer got it upto over 160 on a test drive, but he was trading in an impreza and wanted to make sure the performance difference was worth it.
The opinion was that although powerful, it did not really feel that good and had two many electronics to take away the driving feel. Based on what I've heard I would not get one when you consider what else is out there.
My **** talking mate has one that I raced and stayed with - hes giving it loads about it being limited, I think hes talking out of his arse, and they arent a great deal quicker than a 200
This is coz they are very heavy, and have extremely long gearing, or so I have been told :)
Having said that, my mate has 19 inch momos on his, and I can say it looks the hounds :D
Ive got little doubt that it handles nicely as well - Id say they are a worthy motor, but Id rather have a Skyline :D

I dunno, there seem to be very few people in this country dedicated to tuning them, I reckon that with a decent amount of money spent they could be stonkingly fast, and they look better than all but the R34 skyline IMHO :p
The skyline isn't exactly a featherweight either remember :)

Tuned, they're by far the fastest car on GT3 around the test oval.

They are also a lot cheaper than Skylines.
