I reckon in a straight line, the Skyline will eat it :)
Round a racetrack, the Skyline will eat it :)
On A roads, the Skyline will eat it :)
On tight corners and the like, the Evo will win :(
What you need is for someone to turn up with the link to the head to head webpage :)

EVO VII RSII 4.4s 0-60
EVO VII 300 4.0s 0-60

Skyline 2.6 Twin Tub 5.2s 0--60

And those are standard showroom specs...

Odd, Autocar quoted the R34 as being a 4.6 second 0-60

EVO gives the following information:

Evo 7 - 5.0
Evo 7 RS - 4.4
Evo 6 Makkinen edition - 4.8
Evo 6 RS - 4.5

R33 GTR - 5.4
R34 GTR - 4.7

Either way, the R34 no way has '279bhp' to get that figure.

RS and 300bhp editions aren't considered standard. the GSR lancer is a couple hundred kilo's heavier and I suspect it would lose to the skyline.

Just to be totally unscientific on this subject - They are about the same speed on Gran Turismo, untill that is you tune the skyline:eek:

But the Skyline in GT3 turns into a lumbering Peice of crap,

Where as the Lancer VI GSR, turns into the powerslide machine from heaven ;)

GTR's generally turn out around 330hp from stock, although they're a claimed 279hp due to Japanese restrictions.

Althought they're a heavy car, they don't suffer from traction problems thanks to the 4WD.

ROFL !

Obviously none of you have been in either !!!

Having driven many standard and modded evo 4's,5s,6,s,7s,
32,33 and 34 skylines I can tell you now, a standard evo
will *EASILY* kick a skylines ar5e in almost *ALL* conditions.

Skylines are too heavy (by far), brakes arent a patch on the evo
and handling isnt even close; the 33 skyline especially, totally
over rated tosh !

I reckon a mildy played with 200sx could give a stock 33 a hard time up to 120ish...ROFL.

Helped my mate build his Ultima GTR over two years....(460 BHP ATM) <---Roller CAM on its way (then 520BHP)

a Standard Ultima GTR (350bhp) destroyed an 800 bhp skyline around a track....

and a guy who thought his Evo 6 was the fastest thing in the world went out in the Ultima and said "Bloodyhell, this thing is at least twice as fast as my car"

So I dont really no Evo + Skyline Fast......

But I know stupidly insanely (not really safe ont he road) fast!

oh btw....Guess how much the insurance was.....

Some clues.....

Car Weight: 960KG
Car Power: 460BHP
Engine: 5.7litre NA Chevy
0-60: <4 seconds
Lateral G (not sideways on an airfeild like the EVo and Skyline crew - but around a roundabout on a road...i.e. Usable) >1 G
Mileage: 3000 PA
AGE: 27
License: CLEAN AND FULL (ATM)

HAVE A GUESS GO ON ;)

Destroying an 800BHP Skyline around a track with what's basically a racing car shouldn't be hard! I mean the Skyline has what 500BHP/Tonne and the GTR has nearly 400. Also depends on what track, around the Nurburgring where the skyline can use it's power it would probably obliterate the GTR...

However, they are truely beautiful cars, not sure if I'd want to crash in one though!!! GRP.. hrrm safe!

I dont want to sound boring here but a turbo charged hyabusa is pretty damned quick. and on the road itll take the pepsi challenge with any car.obviously on the track toooooooo much power to lay down.

Thing is, my is looking to spend full whack on a brand new one (Evo), I reckon he can pick an as good one(say 12mnths old) for 2/3 the asking price of a new one - I know I wouldn't like to lose nigh on 5/6/7k in one year!!!

Ant, tell "my" (is that your mates name?:p ;) ) to get an evo 6 anyway. The new evo 7 is nice but the true daddy is the 6 - unless your mate likes to be subtle? In which case the 6 will scare him!

Ultimas, hyabusas, skylines, and lancers

I would do ANYTHING for any one of these sweet motors.

Will pass on the advise mate. Wish I could spend that amount of money aswell!!

I'm that used to typin bloody txt msgs that I often miss words out - anyone else do that when writing something other than a txt msg??? Or am i just being a mong!!

I agree on the Skylines, Ultimas and the Evo Lancers, but you can keep your 'Busa!! there is no way I am going to ride anything that can crack 200 mph... on it's back wheel! I would love a bike, but at the moment I love life too much!!

well then, i dont own a busa but a pretty quick gsxr1100 (seriously played with) i was using the busa as an example, i would be more than happy to give the car a runout down the lanes, i would have to buy a new set of knee sliders though .........lol guess what happened to the old ones......but on a serious note the last person who gave me a little challenge ended up in a hedge, with broken arm and concussion.

I personally think it doesnt matter what you drive, numbers are irrelevant, its who has the most nerve when it comes to it.

Err how safe is un Ultima....

Three cases I know about

1) Some unfortunate bloke decided (well fate did) to hit a marshalls tower head on at 100mph+ and walked away (okay two broken ankles).

2) One of the factory demonstrators was crashed in a test drive at 100 mph odd, it hit a granada scorpio and cut it in half. Both occupants walked away with the passenger cell recieving no damage.

3) A bloke in the states entered a Hill climb and was joint favourite with a highly modded 911. However, although very quick down the hill he didnt win, Maybe if he had stuck to the tarmac instead of lauching it off the side of the hill and coming to a rest on its roof 300 feet later. He walked away too.

I think the main point here is an FIA approved roll cage is Very useful ;) Cant see anyone walking away from an Evo or Skyline at that speed.

Oh and about the Hiyabusa thingy....the Ultima would cream that on a track too.

And on Dry country lanes....you would be destroyed Evo Boy.....although not on damp ones ;)

Surely driver would play a huge part in that? If both cars are awsomely quick and both drivers committed then as someone mentioned earlier, it comes down to how far you are willing to go.

Imagine Burns or McRae in the same Evo, would you be so confident then?

Not having a go btw, but unless either/both of you are willing to try it, it's all just my dads bigger than yours.. lol

As someone said before The Ultima is basically a GT Race car for the road, and in the dry, it has far more grip than the Evo. Like I said though if it was damp, you would win easily.

The Lancer weighs over 1250kg whilst the ultima has 960kg (ours anyhow)

So lets say 1250 kg and 297bhp = 238 BHP per tonne

and 960 kg and 460bhp = 480 BHP Per tonne

We have taken A bloke who owns an Evo 6 out in it, He used to think his car was the fastest thing ever, he said and I quote "This thing is Ludicrous, its at least twice as fast as my car"

An Ultima can pull more Lateral G than an Evo, And it is not sideways on an airfield when doing it, we can pull those figures on the road, without a hint of losing and traction.

And I recon the 13inch discs with massive four pots all round would stop a tad quicker than an Evo.

I do accept that driving tallent comes into it, but on a dry road (YOU WOULD WIN ON A SLIGHTLY DAMP ONE) with drivers of average talent in each vehicle, the Ultima would win down a Dry private country lane, closed to the public of course (I dont condone street racing).
