Was looking through scoobynet today and saw this (http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=83436) thread. They all say that the scoob is quicker than a 200 but every time i've raced one i left it (although haven't tried from a standing start). This was, also, when i only had a mongoose exhaust and k+N filter
Anyone else raced one? What were the results? I've never seen any kills in the road-kills forum??

Everything Ive read/heard/seen we are nowhere near them to 60, but up and over that a WRX is fair game for a standard 200SX and anything modded should slay them :D
Dunno what them fools is on about, but nice to see a few of the posters saying that our cars are nice :)

I like the bit about, " Scooby is faster 'cos it's 4WD, but the 200 can be tuned a lot more, though that's not a fair comparison..."

Hmmmm....

I have no opinion on the subject, and can only offer the fact that I've never been beaten by a Scooby. :)

Ditto, but where talking straight line speeds here arnt we, yup I'd have ago on not so bendy roads but out in the sticks and in the hands of the right driver the scoob will kick ass, after all thats what it was designed to do.

LOL :D :D

The MParsonage (6 posts down) is my mate, and it's my 200sx he's talking about! Cheeky fecker - I only gave him a blat around in it in the rush-hour! I think a few mods will need to be dropped in, and a quick RR, and then we'll see, Mr Parsonage :D

And next year (ie salaried :) ) we'll be doing a few track days :D, so I'll get the suspension sorted :) and we'll see what the diffference is around Oulton Park, or somewhere :D Nothing like a bit of competition between friends :D

Just typed out a huuge bloody reply and the ruddy page timed out!
That'll teach me to write a load of long winded tut!

They're pretty similar performance wise, the only difference is that it's more of a suprise when an SX kicks your ar5e 'cos less people know about them.:D

Just hope this doesn't start some spazzy flame war!
Us speedy car drivers have to stick together....except the RS boys, they're all w4nkers!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D(Joke)

They do have the longest thread competition won easily though :D

Oh, and a nice end to your long post, DJFish - the bit about "performance bargain of the decade" :D :D :D

Anyone fancy a joint airstrip shootout with the two clubs?

i is a bit cheeky when racing a mate who has a scooby, i only let rip when we coast onto a motorway off slip road in 2nd at 30mph and then foot down and no way he keeps up, ever :D

but have to admit, around corners and small roads, the scoob can give it.

our cars are unknown beasts/dark horses :p

I can back this up as earlier this week I was traveling down from Scotland and encountered a V reg standard looking Scooby.

I had my younger brother and laugage in the car for ballast!!

I let the scooby pass (driver and girlfriend) then took position behind him - safe distance gentlemen stylie.

When the road cleared we were at 80mph and he took off, I pursed (still in 5th) and kept up with him easily (I eventually had to back off). I think he was just testing to see if I could keep up!

The second time the road cleared, again around 80, he was more serious as I saw the tell tale signs - puffs of smoke out his exhaust.

I kept it in 5th and by 100 was gaining and by 110 was getting very close to him, so I eased off maintaining a safe distance all the way to 130 when we had to slow down for traffic.

This happened a couple more times.

Eventually my junction was arriving, so I pulled along side in the middle lane. The girlfriend (lovely looking she was too) had a great big smile so I gave the thumbs up and sped off down my junction.

My brother couldn't believe it - the infamous Scooby beaten by a 12 year old Nissan.

I've had a couple of goes against Scoobies, nice cars and very quick, but my SX always starts to nail them after about 80 mph, 0 - 60 they are quicker, 60 - 80 they are still a bit quicker but after that they start to lose out, this is on Dual Carriageways mind you.

My mate has a 260bhp WRX and I can tell you, its very quick to 60. But that is down to 2 things,

1) 4wd
2) it only does 80mph max in 3rd!

They feel so quick because of the gearing. Rolling from 40+ in 2nd I would have him.

And they aren't that good round the bends. 4wd dont make as much difference as some people thing on a good dry road surface. Scoobies are prone to understeer anyway :(

Keith: is it true that they've mailed you about us joining their shootout? (http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?ThreadID=83436&Page=2) Hmmm... challenging modded scoobys and Evos  to drag runs... anyone wanna bite...? :)
