View Full Version : Insurance again
Just a thought...
Now that there are 110 (and growing) members on the board, how about someone trying to negotiate a partnership with an insurance company for some discounts on premiums.
Worth a try surely?

I thought that the NTOC has something going with an insurance company?
Dunno though. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/confused.gif

Yeah, I think they have a deal with Adrian flux, but by judging from previouse posts they sound very variable with there quotes.
It'd be alright as long as they didnt see the board that is, I think the prospect of insuring 110 people who have a forum set up for road kill's and talk about squeezing every last drop of power out of there cars might just scare them a little http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

How much do you think it would cost me to Insure a 200SX (S13)?
Im 19, 1yrs NCB and i pay a shizzle load to insure my Starlet GT Turbo. Im thinking a 200 will be less due to it not being an Import... Any ideas?

Pazza try on line quotes at www.elephant.co.uk (http://www.elephant.co.uk) - they seem pretty good for non-imports. They are run by Admiral.
As for a 200 owners club policy I'm not sure? Would it really be much cheaper. I know they do them for a few cars, e.g the Roadster policy. Like Nat said though, how many insurers are really going to 'jump at the chance' of taking on us lot with modified RWD turbo cars? For lower than average premiums? Maybe not http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif
Whilst my initial thought was 'what a good idea that is' I thought for a further 4 seconds and, as Nathan pointed out, perhaps it's not such a good idea, after all.
Can you imagine what the insurance industry would do to us after they've read this lot?
They prefer to insure people who drive at 30mph under the speed limit and pull out onto A-roads and then fail to accelerate. Ever.
Dave is right about NTOC. They have arranged discounts with some insurers. The best thing is to speak to Keith (the Chairman) when your insurance is due.

Pazza, I'm 20years old with 1 year NCB and have just insured my S13 for approx £1500 TPF&T with A-Plan insurance, which I know sounds excessive, but I was paying £600 TPO for a 1.0 Mini city!!!! Adrian Flux quoted me a cheaper price, but after they added the extremely high interest rate for paying over 12 months (No option paying a grand upfront!) it ended up being about the same figure. Oh - and they insist that you have at least a Cat 2 immobiliser before they will insure you, and their customer service is ****e. Happy hunting for cheap car insurance.......... We all know it doesnt exist!
And another thing: arn't premiums supposed to be going up again this year?

Guys,
give tescos car insurance a call. They were the cheapest quote I had.
My existing insures only beat it (highways) in order to keep me as a customer, as I have been for the past 6 years.
Apprently, they are kickin ars, especially with Imports.
They are totally new to it all. Maybe in a year or so things might go up but i'd give them a try.

Well i pay £1700 TPFT for my Starlet GT and im 20 with 1 years NCB, so that aint too bad. Again Admiral added a tonne to my premium due to the interest on paying monthly. Poo.
Ill phone em to see what they say but seeing as insurance has just gone up 25% again it looks like ill be paying the same next year, even with (Touch wood) an extra years NCB... If this is the case and the S13's arent any cheaper to insure you'll see me ripping round in an AE86 with 20v conversion. I can drift in that too!

You sure it was CIS? They quoted me £2400 TPO for my S13 with a K&N. I think you mean CIA?

It could well be CIS. I think getting a good quote is almost as much about luck or who happens to answer the phone as anything else http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/rolleyes.gif. Looking for insurance on the Silvia, I've been given quotes £100's out of each other with the SAME company, within a few weeks. Specifically Admiral (I'm a current customer with them) quoted me £1400 one week, I tried again the next week on the Customer Services helpline, and they quoted just under £1000!
Specialists are often full of crap. One supposed import specialist (Osbornes) quoted me £1700. He went rather quiet when I told him others were quoting me under a grand...

Yeah with CIS when they had their old e-mail quote service I got really good quotes but if I rang up they gave me sky high quotes! I went into the office one day ang got a quote of £1100 fully comp on a CRX v-tec, and on the day I nearly bought the car & I tried to get it covered (I was served by a different person, but during the same week) it went up to £2000 for the same cover!!!! In the end I decided that if insurance was going to be that expencive i'll buy a car that's worth it, hence 200sx ownership http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif Personally, I think they don't really give a **** cos its the law to have insurance, so they know that they will get the buisness.
