View Full Version : 300ZX drifters in Max Power...
Yes I know, I know. I was flicking through at my mates and it had an article on three drifting 300ZXs crew called SFTR (Steer From The Rear) have any of them been to a D1? I think they were performing at Max Power live as said in the article.
Not noticed any at Silverstone and I've been to the last three D1 rounds.
Also Kiki from Option does some drifting on the DVD in the NSX. Goes through stuff like using the handbrake etc...
I might be wrong but i think one of them was in Japanese Performance mag a few months ago. He had a quite well tuned 300zx that was stripped for track use, which he uses on track days. I don't think they've been to the D1 or anything though.

I just finished watching the dvd.. I bought the mag for the dvd as I heard it was very cool.
They're ok, they know what they're doing.. but they actually teach on the dvd how to do the different types of drift etc.. which means we can look forward to half wits in scrabble wheel drive crappers trying it in car parks giving us a bad name.

The dvd also had a drag shootout with the Fensport Corrolla and Celica beating lots of scrabbly Vauxhalls and that twin engine Nova... Shame they didn't get Richie there as the Corrola's best 1/4 was 12.8 or something!

If its the Nova im thinking of (matt black), then it does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds so i would suspect a very very 1/4mile time, i doubt Richie coulb beat it unless it has stupid gearing

Must say i did it on mc d trays when i was a wee lad. i liked it.
fake drifting is better than no drifting

The Ultima GTR which just smashed the 0-100-0 world record does 0-60 in exactly 2.8.

0to 60 times are meaningless.
i have a car that will do 0 to 60 on road tyres in 4.2 sec.
it takes 13.5 sec to do a quarter as it hits terminal speed(120mph) long before the line.
a friends car that takes 5 sec 0 to 60 does a quarter in 13 dead.
and round a twisty track like oulton we both ge wasted by cars that would struggle to beat us on the quarter, and by the same mesure i can drive round cars that on paper have much better performance.
the whole truth is that on the same day in the same course on the same tyres with the same driver ,then the fastest car was best, but as this never happens,it makes the numbers mean less than nothing.
I would agree with you 100% as 1/4 mile is the only real way to measure accelleration blah blah. But to be hitting 60 in under 3 seconds? That takes something more and thus that must be some seriously tricked up Nova!
It was at trax last year. Its a foreign one running 2 400bhp calibra turbo engines. Saw it ran the 2.8 0-60 and couldnt believe it. Its still a nova thou :ghey:
The steer from the rear guys are just into car stunts and do-nuts etc really, they only drift in arena areas such as the NEC but certainly not in the way as seen on regular tracks. Pretty mad stuff really with loadsa smoking

That Nova may well be fast but on the 1/4 it was timed on it sucked coming 3rd after the Corolla and Celica.
And the Corolla hardly broke 12's...

Richie has a better 1/4 time than the Corrolla's personal best.

Which Corrolla??? If it is Adrian at Fensports then not a chance he has has a couple of high 10's :whip:

Back on topic. The guys you are talking about have been on loads of stuff. They used to be called RearWheelSteer and were on Top Gear when they did Boffins and Burnouts, they must have changed their name  They aren't really very good to be honest, I've seen them a few times, Phil is better

yep was fensports corrola...richie how much quicker is that to yours?? its not alot is it, i know he only and i mean only just beat you at rotorstock.
i think prob with steerfromrear is that there more a display team that do things that all of us could do given enough space and legality, whilst opt and others are natural born drifters that do things by reactions and knowledge
