Here's a selection of the video taken at Andover. It's taken entrely from my camera, shooting in lovely 16:9 widescreen at the figure of eight. If you only drove the main course, you won't be on here.

Highlights include Ben (AstonMan) driving a well sorted S14, and Rob (SidewaysRob) driving a TVR Griffith. Enjoy.

The TVR was quite tricky to drift when I had a brief go (that's Rob driving it in the vid, none of me driving at all on there). It would nearly always understeer even when hard on the power if you didn't arrange a bit of weight shift first. Then it wouldn't hold wild angles because of a lack of steering lock. It was huge fun though, and exactly how I'd like a drift car to be personally. It was like a slightly slower rotating Elise with tonnes more power.

Don't know who's the S12 was, but I think it's Ben (AstonMan) driving it.

Narrow it down a bit for him... IIRC there were about 18!;)

Jason. Ill take that as a compliment that there was too much for the clip so he spread the time more wisely for the masses;):D

Is that the car that Ben was driving really well (longest clip in the vid)? If so, yep, I think I have quite a lot of it that isn't in the vid. That's about the only stuff that I took but haven't used. It's good stuff too, iirc. I just didn't use it to keep the variety up a bit.

I'll try and sort the originals out for you tonight if you like. They'll need recoding to a smaller format than my camera takes.

Clear your PM box spannermonkey!!
Heres the message I just tried to send ............

Hello mate

Saw that vid of you drifting at Andover - top work

Just wondered what it was like to drive normally with the welded diff - Id love to drift mine, but unfortunately its my daily driver, so a welded diff is unlikely :(

Still be interested tho - I expect it to become my second car before long, so might get busy with the torch after that :D

Cheers

nice one for the vid!!

i need to work on a few things then!!!

Anybody got video of my second run?....

spannermonkey
20-08-2004, 21:29
the driver in the vid is ben. I didn't drive the silvia all day. My brother and his mate built it, so they got the fun!!

Its not too bad to drive normally, the only time you notice the diff is when parking or pulling in/out of petrol station, the noise is amusing!!

The suspension setup means its like driving a go-kart, especially with the solid rear diff..... :D

Chris, there's a little bit of me at 0:54 and 2:53, have you got any more I could download? (Black T-reg s14a)

Bad luck at D1 Round 4 btw :( you looked great in the practice

That's pretty much all there is actually. Those two bits actually overlap from the same video. I'll PM you with how to get the full unsplit thing, but it's only a few seconds long.

Really enjoyed watching video clips, they're brilliant. That day was my first experience of drifting and I had a fabulous day. Thanks to DanS14 for inviting me and to all the lads who took me for passenger rides - I had great fun, thanks :) . I'd definitely recommend the day to other girlies.... Lookiing forward to seeing your video clips Dan.

I bought a firewire card and have edited the video I took down to about 6mins 60meg. I think giblets will be hosting it very soon.
Its my first attempt though and the free software I used has caused a couple of pauses. It'll teach me to use the better software next time
