I know this is not SX related, so sorry to the mods in advance. :o

I dont suppose there is anyone in the Yorshire area thats any good with Telewest kit? I wanna move my cable modem downstairs, but TW want £75 to do it!!

I'd have a crack myself as its only simple coax cable, but its the "F" Type snap and seal ends that concern me. I dont wanna put screw on types on as signal degredation is likely to occur :(

So, is there anyone who has a snap and seal crimp tool or any suggestions on what else I could do?

Thanks,

Nath

I am with Telewest, and I would suggest speaking to them about the subsidised Wirelss kit. For £35 pounds I got a Netgear wireless transmitter which plugs into the set top box and a small receiver which just plugs into the USB port of any PC you wish to use it on. Good instructions came with it, and it was straight forward to use.

Yeah, but the set top box only supports a maximum of 1mb downstream :( I have 1.5mb

I have bought loads of new 11g D-Link kit now anyways and some F Type Coax connectors :D

I had the installation engineer leave me a few rolls of extra cable when i got mine fitted. I just chopped the ends off/taped the longer cable on and stuffed the new end into the old connector (and held it in place with more tape :D ). Worked just fine right up until i moved out.

Marty, when I posted this thread, I had a mental bet with myself that you would reply saying you had hacked your own cable to bits in some way and then re-attached it :D

Top Job matey!
