Why is Halfords so expensive?

Is Halfords starting to = Rip Off?

Quite simply put - yes. I guess it's because the folk that go there wish to pay extra for the scintillating service :wack:

tis just like pcworld for cars, total flaming rip off, they buy in bulk then rip you off on the products cause there more convinient than most places :(

I got them to mix a spray can of White 326 to do some touching up on my S13 - £9.99 :eek:

But I also bought a small angle grinder kit - in a plastic case, included 5 discs - £14.99, which I thought was well cheap!

Strangely, the guy wouldn't mix my paint until he'd checked the VIN plate for the paint code - and then when he saw my Samco'd FMIC, he asked me if he could take a photo of the bay :wack:

Its the convience thing, they do keep reasonably good stock levels (if you drive a :ghey: fleet car) and are open 7 days, usually in expensive rates area.

The chaps in my local Halfords are really helpful too, seam more willing to help than than auto factors.

They dont to cash discounts though so i choose the factors 9 times out of 10!

Not the assistants fault as they're briefed to be just as 'helpful' in most high-street stores like Currys etc.

You've hit the nail on the head there - Its a bit like B&Q versus local independant (although B&Q's staff seem to be improving a little)

Halfords is there for the conveniance of the motorist, they do most of their trade at the weekends when the dealerships are shut as most of us are at work during the week and unable to get there.

Hence why they can afford to price things the way they do.


Supply and demand, simple as that.

They aint all that bad anyway.

Yeah I just prop up my ripspeed desk when I'm not fitting stuff & thumb though wax flower or car mechanic mag or watch my drifting dvds & let the customers do what they want, then tell them to go down the road to the auto shop down there get what they want as its cheaper :p

You would be surprised how many people are incapable of doing that actually. Alot of Halfords prices are high but they do have some good offers or cheap items, plus we do trade now with some very good prices (half price fully syn oil anyone? ;) )

Oh and we can do cash discounts, well i can on audio anyway
