Hello people!
I'm looking for some informations about UK 'cause I'm thinking to have a trip over there (without my 200) in August, with most attention about Scotland (I :smitten: single malt scotch whisky like Oban, Port Ellen, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Caol Ila and others!)
For example: what about gasoline price? You have gallons and not liters. 1 gallon should be "4,something" liters, isn't it?
And what about McDonald's for lunch? How much does a menu cost over there?
And, most difficult question, what about hotels? Are they cheap or expensive? I'm looking for prices or 2, 3 and 4 stars (but it's quite possibile 2 and 3 I think! :p)
Last but not least question: is it easy to drive RHD when I'm used to LHD? Anyone tried, during some travels in Europe? ;)

Thank you very much! :D

Any other information is welkome! :) :)

Everything is very expensive in the UK

Petrol (gasoline) is sold in litres, expect to pay 1.25 Euros per litre.
Hotels would start at 75 Euros per person per night for a basic place (Travel Inn etc.) A 4*is more like 210 Euros per person per night.

Oh yes, the weather in Scotland is much better in May and June...

Petrol (gasoline) is sold in litres and costs about £0.82 per litre, or roughly translated, fcuking expensive.

MacDonalds meals are about £4 for the regular size.

RHD is easy - we do it every day ;). When I tried LHD it only took me one street of knocking door mirrors off parked cars and winding down the window before I got the hang of it. If you can drive in Rome without problems Scotland will be easy.

Hi Mike,

To answer your questions:

1. Petrol is sold by the litre and it's between £0.80 and £0.96 depending where in Scotland you go.

2. McDonalds Menu's are called Meals and cost £3.19.

3. Hotels vary greatly depending where you are again. Here in Edinburgh, at that time of year you could look to pay £60 per person for a 3 star per night, but it's festival time so probably all booked up by now. Travel Inns are good quality amd clean and are about £60 per room per night. Go to the Highlands and it'll be about £50 per person for a 3 star.

4. The hardest part of driving a Wrong Hand Drive car, is trying to get your wrong hand to work the gear lever! You will automatically follow the other cars and hopefully they should all be on the right side of the road. Only difficulty I have ever had was going through a single car wide lane in Spain, I forgot what side to return to when it opened out.

I would strongly recommend the West Highlands for a visit. To get there, you can follow the Whiskey Trail from Perth to Inverness than take a left onto the A835 then onto the A832. Amazing scenery and cool roads
