Y wat kind of engineer are u?

Have to admit that desk-jockeys that call themselves engineers really pisses me off too.

<<<<< used to be a mechanic, and a fabricator. Knows how to get dirty!!

Not that a tv engineer is a clean job either i must add!

if your directing your comments to me, then listen on and i shall do a bit of jibbering, i call myself an engineer because i make things, preferably out of metal, i served a four year apprenticeship which covered things from welding, milling, grinding, turning, fitting, sheet metalwork etc. since comming out of my time have since been trained in electro plating fork truck driving, tool design and construction etc etc. yes i get my hands dirty, worked in germany, for the company, for a few months, retro fitting are undercarriage, you like dirty, try stripping one of them down after its done a few thousand landings and youll see what dirty is mate, imagine what those things fly through, their covered in oil brake dust grease dead seagull and pidgeon and god knows what else. it pisses me off when you get somebody calling themselves an engineer when they cant do any of the above, we get them in our place, well there designers and the like in my book. and kev, i'll by a new vcr thanks, the tuner tends to wander after a few days, you can set it all up and its fine to watch the telly thru but when you record and playback its crap. thanks for the offer tho, mate.:D :D ;)

:D :D :D

Dont worry mate ive had those kind of lessons from u plenty of times.

Im wondering who Kerfumph is directing that at though, as i assume so are u:p

If ur handy with a soldering iron, u can likely sort the tuner by resoldering the connection between the tuner and the board mate.

And for referance if u do buy a new one, go Panasonic, much better than that sony p!sh.

Ps. i didnt even think u had directed ur tirade at me until u posted the 2nd message. :D :D :D

Not directed at anyone in particular its just my pet hate! Sound engineers.... give me strength!

Jibber, sounds like you did the EITB and C+G same as me. When I left I was a Programmer/setter on Mazatrol M-Plus and fanuc ISO but got board with that and now do maintenance in a food factory.

I will agree that the picture on a sony tv is good, but reliability for any tv younger than bout 6-7 years is crap, solder dries up on them.
U expect this with a £200 job, not with a £2000 one.

Vcr's = pants, silly faults on them!!

Stereos, the really expensive ones are ok, but the middle and lower ranges are sh!te, u would be better buying Aiwa cos they are basically sony inside with better mechs and usually a couple of hundred pounds cheaper.

Basically sony= over-rated, over-priced crap.

And tv engineers are not sound engineers!!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D
