Winter is here so its time to buy a old shed(ish) type car to plough through salty roads and snow and save the precious s13 the grief of another Scottish winter. Its time will be spent in a cosy garage :smitten:

Previous winter purchases for me have been a Sierra 2.0 GLSI and a Granada Estate 2.0i. Both these were totally stunning for reliability but the sierra was much better fun and much quicker to boot.

This years list is:-

Granada Scorpio 3L
Sierra XR4i 2.8L RWD version
Carlton Gsi 3.0L 12/24v
Sierra 2.0 GLSi 8v
Sierra 2.0 16v (top choice)
Volvo RWD (probs not too keen on this one)

Budget around £400 max - must be MOT'd and RWD.

Thoughts please folks :)

Yeah, most are sheds - there's a few still around though. I love the tacky 80's body work etc on the xr4i's

I'm almost sure all the 2.9 XR4is are 4x4, the RWD was only in 2.0 DOHC

No, XR4i is 2.9i RWD, XR4x4 is 2.9i 4WD.

Engine has a few problems,

Could you explain this bit a bit more, PM me if you'd prefer. Having an advance market scan just now, last date to purchase would be end of august.

Cheers,

Dunc.
