I had Wing Commander some 10 or so years ago on my old Amiga 500 - obviously, it ran crap compared to the PC's version due to its inferior processor and graphics - it was still good fun though despite poor frame rates.

Anyhow, had a look on www.the-underdogs.org and there is a re-released PC version that has been re-done for modern PCs (ie. slowed for newer processors, XP compatible and new CD quality sounds)

Definately worth checking out if you want a blast from the past! Top games - the link includes new versions for WC 1 and WC 2 which have been released into the public domain. :)

Note that the 70MB download decompresses to nearly 700MB on your hard disk

I have fond memories of late nights with an A500 and wing commander.

Gran tourismo and the PS1 cured me, though strangly still had the same side effects :wack:

Elite was it. Tried loads of space games and nothing else got me hooked, even the 2nd Elite. Then Eve Online came along. Woah!

I'll agree with elite, but Eve???? earth and beyond was much more playable (dam you electronic arts  why did you kill it off)

Any of them really, and Alliance is still being updated as we speak (OK, as we sit on out arses and type then)
May have to download Wing commander and give it another go, as I never really got on with it 'back in the day' :wack:

I'll second that, Eve is

Earth & Beyond was what Elite II should have been
