Hmmm more likely drivers than programs.
What version of Windows are you running?
2000 or XP.
What service pack are you running?

Scientific Atlanta WebSTAR 100 & 200 series Cable Modem: System32\DRIVERS\SACMXP1.sys

Seems to hint that your Cable modem is causing you the problems ... hmm ..

Reinstall the driver. Do you have a disk for the modem?

try running the computer without the modem attatched.....i know this may be hard :( but it will/may show your system is stable!

if it still plays up then i'll suggest something else :)

these damn usb modems are more trouble than they are worth.....just get a draytek router!!!!!...it would make my life so much simpler!!!!

found this, seems to make sence

sacmxp1.sys is part of the cable modem driver. Does this also involve a usb connection ? If so and the above doesn't work try installing a network card and hooking it to a router with a cat5 cable and connecting cable modem to the router on the wan side with a cat5 also.

Apparently windows uses a media sensing service to detect when the usb connection is down and unbinds the protocols until the connection is up again. If you are having problems with your usb this is probably what's causing the sacmxp1.sys error. W's doesn't do this when using a cat5 connection

I do have problems with the usb ports sometimes. 3 out the 4 lock out and will only restore after the machine is unplugged from the wall
So it looks like I may have to go and buy a router and networkcard then?

Well downloaded driver update, unplugged modem, plugged it back in, wasnt recognised, which was good cos it meant I could install drivers easily. Now system sees it as it should :)
Turned on this morning and guess what, blue screen as soon as I come on here :(
Now gone to windows update which is telling me I need service pack 1  or at least some of it, dont know why it hasnt downloaded it automatically, cos thats how its set :annoyed:
See how I do now :smash:

Service packs will bever automatically install for home users. To install SP1, just to to windows update and look for SP1 in the critical updates. select it alone, select install and follow the instructions :)

Yep, the auto update thingy is just for security patches. Service packs are a bit big for it to go downloading without you knowing :wack:

hi, i had the same blue screen appear on my laptop as well....however, it happened after installing norton anitvirus...my laptop kept hanging for no apparent reason and it got really frustrating  does the blue screen appear immediately before shutdown, for a split second?

so one day i decided to try and find out what's causing it....

press ctrl-alt-del and then go to task manager....

click on procesess tab...

you will be surprised at the amount of junk stuff is going on at the back ground...find those procesess that has something to do with your driver that is causing the trouble....click on it and end it....once that is done, go remove the installed driver software...restart, reinstall driver and see what happens...

like i said, i had similar problems like yours...did what i said as above, and now my laptop hardly hangs! :D

It comes on for about 90 secs as it is counting down memory dump to hard drive, then reboots itself.

I mayu have problems with my windows, due to the source of the computer :(
