Nothing to do with cars but I know there are many tech heads on here.
I manage a 24x7 system for our clients which has an engineer and a manager on call 24x7. The system takes the following steps.
1. Clients use a web based system to notify us of a critical to business issue.
2. The system sends SMS messages via a handset attached to a server to a phone held by the on call engineer.
Recently we have had issues when the on-call engineer is in America and the delivery of the SMS messages cannot be guaranteed. One weekend it took 8 hours before the engineer got the messages. Our SLA to the customer is under an hour.
I researched SMS delivery reports but unfortunately this doesn't work across the water.
Anyone have any experience of using pagers? Can you get guaranteed delivery or at least be notified programmatically if the message is delivered?
