Well the tarts hairdryer is now fitted with some f/o evil looking gravel rally tyres

I will be testing them out tomorrow at Andover, a quick test round the local g-force inducer seems to suggest they are somewhat promising, in the smooth drift & silent'ness requirements.

Only thing is it sounds likes a tractor at 50mph from the tyre hum, another excuse not to get there in a hurry tomorrow.

If anybody wants to try it out tomorrow your more than welcome.

See ya all tomorrow :D

I spent all morning at Andover trying out some new ideas, a figure of 8, a bigger figure of 8 & a huge slalom area too. Oh what fun, until I ran out of petrol in the middle, :censored: ho hum. Oh and I've perfected those reverse J turns too :D

Well they work, very well indeed.

Its noticeable that they have a stiff sidewall, its like having very low profiles there is no tyre squirm, the tyre man was cussing when he fitted them too.

They are definately quiet almost no squeal at all, in fact you getter a better idea with what going at the front end with these on.

They drift brilliantly. Control is the one thing I'd say you get lots of on these tyres, so I'll be using them at D1 for sure. Being a soft compound they have grip not quite as much as road tyre but its not dissimilar, but the transition it improved.

The ones I have are Kuhmo Ecsta Competition spec soft compound 15" gravel stage tyres. Normally used on 300+ bhp rally cars, so they are well up to holding the power. The rally teams ditch them after every stage so always plenty on Ebay & I'm sure if you get friendly with some rally teams endless supplied will be available.

Several people tried my car out at Andover & everyone I think was surprised. There were also several other cars on comp spec tyres & it was noticiable that soft compound is a lot quieter all round.

Oh & they smoke a treat too

i tried looking at ebay but the sellers tend to use different measurments so i am not sure what they mean :)
Do they last longer than thrashed road tyres? i drifted o some nw tyrs and it was worse than part worns because there was so much tread that it just took off chunks of rubber rather than wore it down. I think ill visit my local scrappy for next time :)
