Those of you that receive the "Speedtrap Bible" updates will have heard about the new Stinger camera system that "views" your number plate and checks tax situation etc.

This AM the police appeared to be trialing on the London bound carriageway at the Hillingdon turn off.

This PM they had the cameras checking outbound traffic, set up on the Polish War Memorial junction.

On both occasions they had 3-4 pursuit cars, qued up on the following on ramp waiting to detain wrongdoers.

Perhaps checking out Road Tax evaders and Insurance dodgers with their new toys will end the current preoccupation with speeding offences. Why not just have a crack down on poor and dangerous drivers! It would save more lives.

That has got to be the most rediculous comment ever made. Our boys in blue work hard to keep our roads free from nasty, wicked speeders and this is all the thanks they get? Shame on you!!!

Or could it be thatO B V I O U S L Y plod focus on the easy/cash generating targets and leave all the difficult (or real) crime alone.

I got lasered by a Fed car on a bridge doing about 85 on M42. The Fed was sitting in the car with a hand held blue lasery type thing....have not had ticket 10 days later.

Was it a speeding device?

Keep your fingers crossed untill the expiration of the 14 day NIP period.

With a bit of luck he was just playing with a new toy and practising.

I think with the laser trapping, they use it in conjunction with a video camera to provide the backup evidence, so if you only saw one Policeman with the one gadget....

Does this have a white camera with a small black box thing above each lane.
If so there are now on a bridge just before J15 on the M40 (both directions).

On each occasion seemed to be three "cameras" smallish boxes, one for each lane? mounted on tripods on the parapet of the bridge over the motorway. Couple of support vehicles parked beside them on the bridge and the before mentioned three or four pursuit vehicles on the following on ramp.

I'm sure the speedtrap bible site will have explicit details soon.

I just went through J15 south on the M40 and there are cameras on a bridge gust before the junction covering both carriageways. Small white cameras angled quite a way down with a small black box thing next to each. There was what looks like a police trailer on the end of the bridge (spose this controls them)
A couple of miles futher on there was a police car on a bridge over the road. After another mile or so I've never seen so many bacon sarnys in my life http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif. Three on the exit to the services and another three within the next two miles having pulled people over http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif so I'd make sure your doc's are up to date if you're using that section http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif.
