Your existing avatar must have come from somewhere  Not sure what upgrade means.
Have you tried UserCP - EditAvatar ?

Only paid up members can upload pics directly, but I can't tell if you are.

To get the avatar you want to use to a size of less than 80x80 pixels you need to use some image software to resize the picture - something like Paint Shop Pro or Fireworks or Photoshop will do it.

I'm not familiar with those packages but I asssume they will. They probably won't work on an animated image, but for a picture they will.

How do I resize an animated one, anyone know? I want to shrink this http://work.silkcotton.com/aaron/ca19det_drift.gif for my Driftworks forum avatar, then try and get it hosted somewhere, as you can't upload them from your computer to the forum.

Cheers!

Mitch I've resized it for you. Just right click my avatar and save it.
I did it at GIFWorks.com

No worries. That website is pretty good but it won't resize big files.
